Today was a day for colleges. We visited both Boston University and Harvard, though with Harvard we merely walked around and were told facts about particular aspects of it, the reasoning for Harvard shutting off the pipeline to its original pump and the Sculpture of 'Harvard', commonly known as the statue of three lies. This is due to its inscription of
Founder
1678"
The three lies being: Harvard University was not founded in 1638, John Harvard did not found it, and the person posing is not John Harvard; but one of the senior students whom was a descendant from a president, but because the presidents last name sounded very much like 'whore' the university did not name one of the houses after him, to placate the family they offered to have the student pose for the sculpture.
Unlike with BU, I was impressed by the campus of Harvard, and was very much disappointed when I realized we would not be receiving a real tour.
Lunch for the day was an all you can eat Indian buffet, it took us a while to get there and find it, but it was absolutely worth it.
Later that day we circled the Waldon Pond and visited Henry David Thoreau's shack and original home site. Although he was living on his friends land and in absolute poverdy in the sense of cash and standing in the world, to say that he was a poor man would be absolutly incorrect. Waldon Pond, and the areas surrounding it is abosultly gorgous, the land is lushus and fertal and there is a sence of calmality and peace that eminates from the area that is wonderful.
